VariSaturator is an audio effect plug-in designed to apply saturation effects to audio material. VariSaturator can be used both to boost the loudness of the audio tracks without increasing their peak levels proportionally, and to apply subtle harmonic coloration that makes tracks sound more pronounced and polished.
VariSaturator features two saturation modules which are applied in sequence, in two-band mode each. The valve saturation module applies asymmetric valve processing that closely resembles sound of valve amplifier cascade, and being a digital emulation, it applies its best sonic features without side artifacts like noise, strong phase shift and high frequency roll-off. Another saturation module VariSaturator features is a digital “waveshaping” saturator with feedback topology. This module applies smooth two-band saturation which can amplify signal level and apply desirable harmonic coloration. If you have some “muffled” track in the mix that needs to cut through the mix better, VariSaturator will help you in this case easily.
VariSaturator can be used in a variety of audio processing cases: you may apply it with good results over drum, bass and vocal tracks, over sub-mixes and of course over complete mixes. Since VariSaturator does not provide a brick-wall limiting performance, when applied over full mixes, it is best used for the final loudness boost inserted before the finishing brick-wall limiter.
Note, though, that since VariSaturator applies distortion, it may damage original sonic qualities of the audio material if used incautiously. For initial evaluation of VariSaturator’s sonic performance you can use the factory presets VariSaturator comes with.

Über Melodyne
Die Audio-Recording-Software Melodyne wurde im Jahr 2001 von der deutschen Firma Celemony Software GmbH auf den Markt gebracht und ermöglicht im Gegensatz zu herkömmlichen Programmen einen völlig neuartigen und kreativeren Zugriff auf Audio-Daten. Melodyne analysiert monofone Audio-Daten und erlaubt anschließend, die einzelnen Parameter Tonhöhe, Phrasierung, Formanten und Timing getrennt voneinander, beliebig und in einzigartiger Qualität zu bearbeiten. Dabei reagiert die Software sehr musikalisch und erhält beispielsweise bei einer Intonationskorrektur die Phrasierung inklusive des Vibratos.
Melodyne hilft bei Timing- und Intonationsproblemen und gestaltet so die Musik-Produktion effizienter. Gleichzeitig aber bietet das Programm Zugriff auf bisher ungeahnte kreative Möglichkeiten im Umgang mit Audio.
Melodyne lässt sich über die PlugIn-Schnittstellen VST, AudioUnit, RTAS und DirectX oder über Rewire elegant in alle Musik-Produktions-Umgebungen integrieren.
Melodyne läuft unter Mac OS und Windows und wird derzeit in drei Versionen angeboten: Die studio edition erlaubt neben dem polyphonen Timestretching unendlich viele virtuelle Spuren und 32Bit/192kHz-Unterstützung. Die mittlere cre8-Version bietet bei gleicher Klangqualität 8 Spuren und Auflösungen bis maximal 96 kHz und 24 Bit. Für die unkomplizierte Bearbeitung von Melodien schließlich gibt es seit Mitte des Jahres die einspurige Version Melodyne uno.
