What started as a bedroom project in early 2003 - for the sole purpose to get ASIO support for the AC97 on my laptop - has become ASIO4ALL - the universal ASIO driver for WDM audio.
Honestly, I did not expect this project to become as popular as it has become (but this popularity does not particularly dissapoint me either ;-)
ASIO4ALL is a hardware independent low latency ASIO driver for WDM audio devices. It uses WDM Kernel-Streaming and sometimes even more sophisticated methods to achieve its objectives.
In order to successfully run ASIO4ALL, you need:
A WDM-compatible operating system, such as Win98SE/ME/2k/XP.
A WDM-driver for your audio hardware. (Under Win2k/XP this is implicit, not so under Win98SE/WinME.)

What ASIO4ALL will NOT do:
Replace your existing sound card drivers or mess with them in any way.
Install any kernel mode components that could potentially affect the stability of your system.

Cosmo 201 is an emulation of the much loved Casio CZ-1000 from "the good old 1980's when things were so uncomplicated" (sorry ELO). Unfortunately most of the CZs have gone loopy by now and had to be upended into a dumpster. And for those of us who took the time to get to know our CZs, that still counts as one of the saddest days of our lives.
Well here's the next best thing: Cosmo 201 VSTi - guaranteed not to lose it's patches if not turned on for a week (not really but you get me, right?). Ok it's not 100% accurate because of the ADSR envelopes instead of the 8-stage ones the Casio had but the idea here was to re-create the sound of the lost classic and by all feedback I have done just that. Other differences are the addition of an analog filter + overdrive and crude FM from the LFO; but don't worry they don't get in the way if you don't want them.
Famous users of Casio CZ synths (CZ-101, CZ-1000, CZ-3000, CZ-5000 & CZ-1): Vince Clarke, Paul McCartney, Chris & Cosey, Salt 'N' Peppa, Boxcar, House artists who didn't want to admit it was where they got their 'organ' and of course yours truly!

Performance Features:

* The playing style (from soft to hard plucking) can be affected by a "Pick" control which allows variation in the touch of the player.

Nostalgia is a Sound Library plugin based on Native Instruments' Kompakt, featuring over 1.3 gigabytes of sounds and more than 1,300 patches from four decades of electronic instruments.
Programming wizard and all-round synth enthusiast Steve Howell has used his 30+ years of experience and knowledge of these various instruments to create accurate representations of some of the world's greatest synths, keyboards and beat boxes that he has either owned or used in a professional capacity as either a sound designer, sound engineer, player or composer in one way or another.
