About this release ### ###################################################################### The goal of this Complete Edition was to store both games on a single layer DVD-R while also cramming as much extra content on it as possible. In the end, I succeeded, but it was a close call. The image is so stacked that you will need a DVD-R to burn it. DVD+Rs are too small to fit it (only by 6MB, but still). Make sure to read the installation section or you will run into problems! ###################################################################### ### 2. Features ### ###################################################################### Call of Juarez 1.1.1.0: ----------------------- - Pre-patched to the newest version and pre-cracked - MapPack 1 is already built in - Pre-cracked ChromEd level editor included - DirectX 10 patch and benchmark included - Fully valid installation! Though no updates will be released any more, this might be useful for 3rd party software - Installer won't bug you with entering a serial during install - Original installer used an annoying fullscreen window, that couldn't even be minimized - Installer allows for specific choices for installation. Only install the files you want. Don't plan to use the Multiplayer feature? Just don't install it and save 1.5GB of HDD space - English, German and Russian localizations included, as well as spanish subtitles. - Edition comes with my Localizer tool, that allows you to switch the game's language. It also allows you to select a subtitle language independently from the voice over language, allowing you to mix and match the localization. Play in english with russian subs if you prefer so! - Delete unwanted languages any time with the Localizer - Game is being installed uncompressed, helping reduce the insane level load times even on faster systems. Also great for modders. You can start modifying the game's levels with the included editor right after installation without going through the hassle of extracting the data first. This also allows you to test your mods right away without any need to pack them prior to testing. - Compressor included for those who want to run the game with DX10 and those who need the space. Compresses the 5GB for the full installation down to only 2.3GB, making it half a gigabyte smaller than installing the retail edition and applying all patches manually while not having all extra localizations available. - Localizer allows to activate or deactivate intro playback - English and Polish manuals included - Edition comes with the latest walkthroughs, cheats and trainers - English translations for the so far german trainers included Call of Juarez - Bound in Blood 1.0.0.0: ---------------------------------------- - Localizations for English, German, French, Italian and Spanish including Polish subtitles - Fully valid installation. Applying future patches shouldn't be a problem. - Installer allows you to select all the features you want, including all languages. Old one only allowed a single language to be installed - Localizer allows you to mix and match subs as well as voice overs. - Localizer allows for intro activation and deactivation - Delete any localization you don't like after installation, saving you 200MB per language - Manuals and Readmes for all languages included - Walkthroughs, cheats and trainers including english translations for the german ones ###################################################################### ### 3. Installation ### ###################################################################### Select the game you want to install from the autostart menu. If you have problems with the autorun menu, find the installers in the root directory of the DVD and execute them manually. The installer gives you the choice to install only the functions that you want. If you want to add certain features to an existing installation at a later time, just run the installer again and select only the new features. They will be added to the game and start menu links will be updated. No game data will be overwritten unless you install a package that has already been installed. The installer gives you the following options: Call of Juarez: --------------- The game allows you to choose the parts you like: Main game files: This is basically the game. You can choose not to install it in case you only want to install one of the extra features. DirectX10 files: This installes all files needed for DX10 gameplay. Even if you don't install it, you will have a link to the DX10 executable in the start menu. The game will crash, so make sure to install this package. This package will also include the benchmark. ATTENTION: For DirectX 10 to work, you WILL have to compress the game. This is not an option, but a necessity! Only DirectX 9 gamers can run the game uncompressed! If you want to run the benchmark, you will also have to compress the game. Find the compressor in the start menu and run it. Be patient. The process will take a couple of minutes. Should the compressor fail for some reason, go to the installation directory and run simplecomp.bat, which is kind of a safe mode version of the compressor. After compression, the source files will be deleted automatically, so you don't have to mess around in the game directory. Multiplayer components: Files for LAN and online play. If you only want use the multiplayer features, then you will still have to install the main game files. Voice overs: Install the voice overs of your choice. Subtitles for all languages will always be installed, so you don't have to install a language if you only want to have subs of that language. ChromEd Level Editor: Official level editor by Techland. Call of Juarez - Bound in Blood: -------------------------------- The same rules above apply here with the exception of the whole DX10 mess. 3.1. Uninstallation ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Either run the uninstaller from the start menu, or from the "Programs and Features" menu within control panel. Should the options not be available then find the uninstall.exe in the game directory and execute it manually. The uninstaller will only delete originally installed files. It will not touch savegames or mods, so you can run it any time and re-install the game at a later time without any problems. ###################################################################### ### 4. Localizer ### ###################################################################### The Localizer allows you to set the languages in the game. You can run it any time you want. You can activate newly installed languages with the Localizer. It will also tell you if the language you want to use is not installed. Start the Localizer by finding its link in Start Menu -> Programs -> Call of Juarez -> Localizer. Both games have their own Localizer versions. You'll be greeted with the main Interface. Choose the option you want to change by entering the appropriate character into the prompt. Call of Juarez: --------------- The game comes with subtitles for 4 languages, but only 3 of them have also voice overs. You can activate or deactivate the intro playback. The Localizer shows you the intro status. Note that when you compress the game, the settings will be permanent and the Localizer will show "status unknown" for the Intro flag, because it can not read the intro settings from the compressed game. You can delete any language you like. Deletion only affects voice overs, so you can still access the subtitles of that language. Call of Juarez - Bound in Blood: -------------------------------- This Localizer is similar to the one for CoJ, but now you have the choice between 6 subtitles and 5 voice overs. Once you're satisfied with the settings, press Q to quit the program. ###################################################################### ### 5. Compressor ### ###################################################################### The Compressor will allow you to compress Call of Juarez. This way you can keep the size of the game down. However, if you want to play the DirectX 10 version of the game, you will have to compress the game, due to this version not being able to load uncompressed data. If you run the DX10 executable or the Benchmark without compression, then the game will crash. You can find the compressor in the start menu. You can run it any time you add new features to your installation. Say, you install the main game first and compress it. After you beat it you want to try the multiplayer mode and install it. You can run the compressor again and it will compress the newly added feature. You can resume that up to 63 times (enough for anyone I guess). The compressor will also work for manually added data, such as mods as long as they come in uncompressed form and add files to the data directory of the game. Xiaopang, 03.09.2009
