FIFA 12 ist das neueste FIFA-Spiel für das Jahr 2011. Entwickler EA Sports verspricht zahlreiche Neuerungen, um ein noch realistischeres Fußballspiel zu ermöglichen. Unter anderem wird es Verbesserungen bei der KI geben, welche sich menschlicher verhalten und die virtuellen Spieler individueller agieren lassen soll. Personality Plus wurde zudem weiterentwickelt, wodurch die Pässe der Gegner beeinflusst werden.
Realistischere Pässe werden durch ein neues System ermöglicht. Wird der Ball zum Beispiel in die Richtung eines Teamkollegens gespielt, welcher sich nicht in Sichtweite befindet, so ist die Wahrscheinlichkeit auf einen erfolgreichen Pass geringer. Blinde Pässe nach vorne will EA somit eindämmen.
Neu ist auch die Impact Engine, die alle Berührungen zwischen den Spielern berechnet, wie etwa an den Beinen, Füßen, Knien, Armen und so weiter. Die Spieler können sich außerdem auch außerhalb von Zweikämpfen bzw. außerhalb des Ballbesitzes verletzten, was vor allem im späteren Spielverlauf wahrscheinlicher wird.
Zudem gibt es eine zusätzliche Kameraperspektive, drei neuen Arenen mit Trainerbänken, "beeindruckende Lichteffekte", ein neues kurzes Dribbling mit dem linken Analog-Stick sowie ein intuitiveres Menü-Interface.
